Is Go used for actual image processing?
Rarely. The numerical ecosystem is thin compared with Python and C++. Go’s place is the service layer — routing, queuing, orchestration and APIs around vision workloads.
Why does Go appear in CV job descriptions at all?
Because production vision systems are distributed systems. Teams running large camera fleets or video platforms need strong backend engineering, and much of that infrastructure — including Kubernetes itself — is written in Go.
Is this a viable path into computer vision?
It is a viable path into vision-adjacent infrastructure roles, which are well paid and in demand. It is not a route into modelling work without adding Python and ML fundamentals.
