How to hire event camera engineers
Event cameras, also called neuromorphic or dynamic vision sensors, report per-pixel brightness changes asynchronously instead of capturing full frames at a fixed rate. The result is microsecond latency, very high dynamic range and low power, with a data stream that conventional vision algorithms cannot consume directly.
What the market looks like
A very small pool, concentrated around a handful of sensor makers and research groups. The asynchronous data stream means conventional vision experience does not transfer directly, so genuine hands-on experience is rare and identifiable.
Where the candidates are
Neuromorphic sensor manufacturers, high-speed robotics and drone teams, AR/VR tracking groups, and academic labs working on event-based vision. The research community is small enough to approach directly.
How to screen for it
- Ask how they represent events for processing, and what that representation costs them.
- Ask when an event camera genuinely beats a high-speed conventional camera.
- Ask what they did about noise and hot pixels, which dominate practical work.
