RF signal processing analyses radio-frequency signals for detection, direction finding, classification and communication. In a vision context it appears alongside radar and multi-sensor systems, where the same estimation and detection theory underpins both imaging and RF sensing.

How does this connect to computer vision?
Through sensor fusion and radar perception. Automotive radar produces point clouds and range-Doppler maps that are processed with methods closely related to those used on LiDAR and images, and fusion roles often want both skill sets.
What hardware knowledge is expected?
Usually a good deal. FPGA implementation, real-time constraints, antenna and array behaviour, and an understanding of the analogue front end. These roles sit closer to hardware than most CV positions.
Is clearance typically required?
Frequently, since much of the demand comes from defence and government contractors. Commercial automotive radar is the main exception and is a growing employer.
